Amitabh Bachchan, who has featured in a few southern projects such as Manam, Kandahar and upcoming Chiranjeevi’s Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy, will be making his Kollywood debut in a full-fledged role alongside actor-filmmaker SJ Suryah in Uyarntha Manithan, which will be simultaneously made in Tamil and Hindi.

This project will mark the Bollywood debut of Suryah, who was last seen playing the antagonist in Vijay’s Mersal. On Thursday, official announcement regarding Uyarntha Manithan was made by Suryah via a press conference.

At the event, he said he considers himself extremely lucky to share screen space with Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan. In a statement, he said: “Even before I ventured into showbiz as an assistant director, I craved for this moment to work with him.  Now, to see it happening sends gold rush into my veins, but at the same time, I’m nervous to imagine that I am going to share the screen space with him.”

Suryah added that due to Amitabh’s packed calendar for next year, the film’s shoot will only commence from March 2019. “We had requested him for 40 days. He showed me his calendar for next year and I was so inspired that he’s so busy even at this age. He requested us to complete his portion in 35 days.”

The film will be directed by Tamilvaanan, who had previously directed Suryah in Kalavanin Kaadhali. Thrilled about the project, Tamilvaanan said in a statement: “What else can I ask for more? This is more than a dream come true for me. To have the country’s most celebrated superstar Amitabh Bachchan sir onboard, it’s no more a pan-Indian film, for his iconic presence on global panorama will bring unparalleled attraction. Moreover, such a greater dream of directing Big B sir coming true through SJ Suryah sir has put me in a state of seventh heaven.”
