The News Minute| May 24, 2014| 3.52 pm IST While many in the Congress have pointed fingers at Rahul Gandhi and his advisors for the colossal defeat faced by the party, former Defense Minister A K Antony remains a staunch supporter of the Gandhi family. Addressing a press meet in New Delhi, A K Antony conceded that this election people wanted to give Narendra Modi the mandate. “People rejected the Congress this election, they wanted Narendra Modi. That is reality, no point blaming Rahul,”says AK Antony When asked about statements made by some leaders blaming Rahul Gandhi for the defeat, Antony shielded Rahul and said the Congress Vice President has worked the hardest during elections. “There is no meaning in singling out Rahul Gandhi for the loss, which is wrong. This is democracy, people need change,” he says. Antony added that, “There is no move against Rahul Gandhi in the party. It was Rahul who campaigned the most for the party.” “Under the leadership of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress will make a comeback. The party is ready to work hard towards it,” added Antony.
