Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her daughter Aaradhya have tested positive for coronavirus. This comes after father-in-law and actor Amitabh Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan took to Twitter on Saturday night to confirm that they too had tested positive for coronavirus. However, Amitabh’s wife and actor Jaya Bachchan has tested negative.

Confirming this, Abhishek Bachchan said, "Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested COVID-19 positive. They will be self quarantining at home. The BMC has been updated of their situation and are doing the needful. The rest of the family including my mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers."

This is the first prominent family from the Hindi film industry to get infected. 77-year-old Amitabh had tweeted on Saturday that he had tested positive for coronavirus and that he has been hospitalised.

“I have tested COVID positive. Shifted to Hospital. Hospital informing authorities, family and staff undergone tests, results awaited. All that have been in close proximity to me in the last 10 days are requested to please get themselves tested,” he said in the tweet.

Shortly after, Abhishek, 44, also took to Twitter to announce that he also has COVID-19.

"Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you," Abhishek tweeted.

"Mr Amitabh Bachchan is stable with mild symptoms and is currently admitted in the isolation unit at Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital, Mumbai. He has confirmed that he will keep updating via Twitter," the hospital said.

Soon after the actors’ announcements, wishes poured in from all quarters for their speedy recovery.
