In the wake of ABVP protests carried out in the city against Amnesty International, that made it difficult for college authorities to conduct classes, the education department has directed college authorities to prevent its students from participating in rallies.

According to a report in The New Indian Express, the direction was given to principals of all government degree aided, unaided colleges and engineering colleges in the state.

The circular directs the principals to take measures to prevent its students from organizing rallies, protests or any other illegal activities on the campus.

It also directs the faculty members to instruct students to stay away from protests and rallies, and instead work towards improving the positive image of the college.

The circular is reported to have not only cautioned students against taking part in rallies, but also addresses the teaching community by insisting that they do not involve themselves in any kind of protests.
