Sandalwood star Updendra decided to take the political plunge last year and made the big announcement. However, it now seems that the star will be putting all that in the back burner for the time being and returning to what he does best – films. Reports from the Kannada film industry are that Updendra will get into movie discussions starting next week and will be finalizing some news deals soon.

Further, he will be completing all the pending assignments to ensure the smooth release of the films that have been in the making for a long time now. Sources say that Upendra will start shooting for a song sequence in his upcoming film Home Minister. Home Minister, which has now gone into the post production mode, is directed by Sujay K Srihari. The film stars Vedhika and Tanya Hope as the female leads. Though the film is titled Home Minister, it has nothing to do with politics. According to sources, it revolves around a husband and wife and according to the former the latter would always be the home minister of a house.

The actor recently has penned his autobiography. Published by Jameel Savanna, the book has been titled Idanna Odbedi, which means ‘Don’t read this’. In his book, Upendra termed it as a mini-autobiography explaining he jotted down his thoughts randomly and then corrected it when he found the time. It may be mentioned here that the autobiography comes at a time when Upendra had announced the launch of his political party Karnataka Pragnyavantha Janatha Paksha.

Besides Home Minister, Updendra also has Uppi Rupee coming up for release. The film stars Rachita Ram, Jagapati Babu and P. Ravishankar playing important roles in it. Scheduled to hit the screen this year, the shooting of Uppi Rupee commenced in March last year and was shot in various foreign locations including West Indies, Canada, Bangkok and Thailand. Directed by K Madhesh, this political thriller is bankrolled by Vijayalakshmi Urs. Sadhu Kokila has composed music for this venture with Rajesh Khatta cranking the camera and KM Prakash editing it.

With Updendra all set to concentrate in movies, his fans are waiting eagerly for the release of Uppi Rupee and Home Minister this year.
