Actor Suriya denies having taken money for religious meet

Kollywood actor Suriya released a statement on Friday rubbishing rumours that claimed he had taken large sums of money for participating in a religious meet held in Kuala Lumpur.

According to a Tamil daily in Malaysia, Suriya was demanding money to participate in an event- ‘Mega Hindu Youth Unity Fest’. This piece of news was allegedly going viral on social media.

Suriya replied through a statement saying that he had no connection with the organization conducting the event and that his name was being abused. He also further stated that ‘artists were beyond caste, religion and language’ and that he would never accept to taking part in any religious events, as it was against his ideology.

He also claimed that he takes part in various events related to change and development and yet never demanded any money for them.

He concluded by requesting his well-wishers to check any news of this sort that might crop up in the media. He also asked his fans to continue to show their love by supporting him in his endeavors and ventures
