Actor Rana Daggubati to play Travancore king in Mollywood debut

Actor Rana Daggubati from the the Baahubali fame is all set to make his debut in the Malayalam film industry soon.

Rana’s acting debut was with the Telugu film Leader and he debuted in Bollywood with Dum Maaro Dum. However, he shot to fame for his role as Bhallaladeva in Baahubali. With the star enjoying a wide fan base across India, Rana is now gearing up to make his debut in Mollywood.

Taking to Twitter, Rana made the announcement about this film.

“Anizham thirunal Marthanda Varma- the King of Travancore” is the character I tell a story as soon. Pre-Production in progress. — Rana Daggubati,” (sic) he tweeted.

To be directed by K Madhu, the film has been titled Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma - The King of Travancore and Rana will be playing the title role in it. According to reports, he is the first King in Asia to fight the Dutch troops and win the battle.

The director intends to make two films of which one will be on Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma - The King of Travancore and the other will be on Karthika Thirunal Marthanda Varma.

While Rana would be playing Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the director will be announced on who would be playing Karthika Thirunal Marthanda Varma soon.

Resul Pookutty has been roped in as the sound engineer with Peter Hein choreographing the stunts and art director Manu Jagath of Baahubali fame to erect the sets.

Director K Madhu’s last film was Banking Hours 10 to 4 and it was announced that he would be directing CBI 5 with Mammootty, Mukesh, and Renji Panicker playing pivotal roles.  However, it now looks like that director would go ahead with Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma.

Touted to be his dream project, the film will be made on a high budget. The King of Travancore will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
