The News Minute| June 24, 2014| 10.05 am ISTIts a case that has been going on for more than a decade. The main accused in the 1997 Pandalam Sexual Assault case has finally surrendered. Professor  KC Venugopal of the NSS Panthalam college along with five others were convicted for sexually abusing a BA English student from June to October 1997, both inside and outside college premises.Venugopal and three other professors were found guilty of sexually exploiting the student and letting their friends also assault the girl. The Kerala High Court after many years of trial, in February this year had confirmed their sentence given by a lower court, of imprisonment from 7-20 years. In February this year, the HC  asked all convicts to surrender, but they failed to do it within the stipulated time. Following this non bailable arrest warrants were issued against all the convicts while five of them surrendered in the last few weeks Venugopal, the main accused surrendered only on Monday.
