A police inspector has been found in alleged possession of assets worth Rs 20 crore which are disproportionate to known sources of his income, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said on Wednesday.

ACB officials booked Sheikh Hussain in a case of possessing disproportionate assets after conducting multi-city raids on premises linked to him.

Hussain is currently posted as Circle Inspector of Coastal Security Police (CSP) at Pudimadaka in Andhra’s Visakhapatnam district.

The anti-graft agency officials said they seized documents showing the Inspector owned properties worth Rs 20 crore as per the current market value.

ACB sleuths found the documents after conducting simultaneous raids at 16 places in Visakhapatnam, Bengaluru, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and a few other cities.

Talking to reporters, DSP of ACB (Visakhapatnam Urban) K Ramakrishna Prasad said the papers were seized from the residences of Hussain and his relatives.

The tainted police officer has a palatial bungalow at Timmapuram and house sites in Visakhapatnam, the officials said.

Hussain also manages a construction company which has been registered in the name of his children and associates, they said.

He joined the force around 12 years ago and served in various capacities under the Police Commissionerate. Before being posted at CSP, Pudimadaka, Hussain served as Inspector at Police Control Room in Visakhapatnam.
