Best known for films such as Dev D and Manorama Six Feet Under, Abhay Deol has been an actor who has always given prime importance to good content over anything else in his films.

Being choosy about his films, the Ranjhanaa actor is currently shooting for his maiden Tamil film, Idhu Vedalam Sollum Kathai, in which he will be seen playing a king. While it was recently reported that he will be seen playing a cameo, the director denied such rumours and clarified that Abhay will be seen playing a full-length role.

Talking about his role, film’s director Rathindran Prasad told Deccan Chronicle: “Abhay is not playing a cameo. His role is very crucial to the script and he is essaying King Vikramadityan in IVSK, which has a genre of fantasy elements, mixed into a road action thriller. He will be seen in the flashback portions which have a period setup.” Prasad also confirmed that Abhay, quite impressed with the script, has also come on board as the film’s co-producer.

Prasad commended the effort Abhay has been taking for the role. “Abhay has shed several kilos to get a toned look. I did some sketches for his royal looks and we did a test photo shoot with necessary detailing and chose one of them. Also, since he wanted to dub his own voice for the character, as the filming is being done in live sync sound, we sent our lyricist Veronica to teach him Tamil and the specific diction that is needed for his role.” The film stars Ashwin Kakumanu and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead.
