Actor Kavya Madhavan, Dileep’s wife, visited him in jail on Saturday afternoon along with her father Madhavan and Dileep’s daughter Meenakshi.
Dileep’s friend and director Nadirshah also visited him prior to Kavya’s visit.
In the 55 days since the actor’s arrest in the Malayalam actor assault case, this is the first time his family visiting him.
As per media reports, Kavya and Meenakshi visited Dileep around 4.10 pm on Saturday, and spent about 20 minutes with him.
Earlier Dileep’s mother and his brother Anoop had visited him in jail. Kavya or her father refused to speak to media after the meeting.
The visits come amidst strong rumours that both Kavya and Nadirshah will be taken into police custody - although the police have said that there is no evidence against them. Kavya’s name was dragged into the case after the main accused in the actor assault case, Pulsar Suni, told media persons that she was the ‘Madam’ who allegedly financed the abduction and assault.
The actor’s family visited Dileep after he got permission to attend his father’s death anniversary on September 6, which was granted by the Magistrate Court. The court allotted two hours to the actor for this purpose. He will have to return to jail on same day, and will be attending the rituals with police escort.
The Magistrate Court on Saturday also extended Dileep’s judicial custody till September 16, after his custody period came to an end on Saturday. Dileep was not produced before the court in person, but appeared through video conferencing on Skype from Aluva sub-jail, where he is currently lodged.
