A Bengaluru girl studying in a private college committed suicide in her college hostel room on Saturday.

Twenty-one year old Sofia, who stayed in Hebbal area was found hanging from the ceiling. In her suicide note, she said that she was feeling lonely and that there was no one to take care of her, reported The New Indian Express.

Police reportedly suspect that Sofia took this extreme step as she was upset over her mother’s advice asking her to concentrate on studies.

Sofia hails from Kerala and was pursuing second year BBA. While her family lived in Electronic City area of the city, she lived in the college hostel, reported TNIE.

“On Friday, Sofia’s mother had come to pay the tuition fees and did not find her either in the classroom or in the hostel. On Saturday, her mother visited again and advised her to attend class properly and concentrate on studies. Upset over this, she took the extreme step,” police said.

She reportedly had low attendance and the college authorities had informed her mother.
