Upon wrapping up Baahubali 2, Rana announced that he would next commence working on the bilingual 1945 written and directed by Sathyasiva of Kazhugu fame. The film was to be bankrolled by SN Rajarajan under the banner K Productions. The principal shooting for this film had commenced at Kochi in 2016 post which there was no update about the film's progress.

On Sunday, on the eve of Deepavali, the makers had announced that the film's first look would be unveiled. In response to the tweet, Rana wrote that the project had been shelved long back and that he hasn't heard anything from the producer for over a year. Following Rana's tweet, producer Rajarajan tweeted saying that crores of money have been invested in the project and that an unfinished film would never be released.

It may be noted that  K Productions bought the theatrical rights of Baahubali: The Conclusion. Its producers, Arka Media Works, had filed a case against SN Rajarajan of K Production over unpaid dues that he owes to the production house.

The film 1945 was planned in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. According to reports, the film traces out freedom fighter Subhas Chandra Bose's Independence movement. Sets that depict the 1940s have been built where important scenes are being canned.

The film's director Sathyasiva took to Twitter to inform that his film has been "completed" and released its first-look poster. According to the poster, the film is expected to release in January next year.

Rana’s last release in Telugu was Nene Raju Nene Mantri and he currently has Virata Parvam 1992 needing his focus. The film has Rana Daggubati playing a cop while Sai Pallavi will be seen as a Naxalite in love with the cop.

According to the buzz doing rounds, Rana will be sporting a lean look for his upcoming film Virata Parvam 1992. As this is a period film, the actor was required to shed weight, say sources. The film is directed by Venu Udugula of Naadi Needi Oke Kadha fame, bankrolled by Rana’s father Suresh Babu Daggubati in association with Sudhakar Cherukuri. Suresh Bobbili has been roped in to compose music for this flick.

Rana's latest release is Akshay Kumar's Housefull 4 directed by Farhad Samji. He has Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride of India next which is based on Indo-Pak war of 1971 directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya.
