An 18-year-old girl from Palakkad lodged a complaint with the Cherupulasssery police on Wednesday, alleging that she was gang raped by a man and his friends.
According to reports, the degree student was raped on October 26 in an isolated place in Kollam district by five men. The survivor was picked up from Kollam by the police, following a missing person complaint filed by her parents.
In her complaint to the Cherupulassery police, the girl said that she had been in a relationship with her neighbor Rajesh, to whom she had lent some money after pawning her gold jewellery. The girl was asked to reach Kollam after she demanded the money back. Rajesh is suspected to have planned the crime, as he was unhappy with the girl for having asked the money back.
Reports say that as she was unable to meet Rajesh when she reached Kollam, a woman who claimed to be his friend, took her in an autorickshaw to an isolated building.
She was then gang raped by five men, including Rajesh.
The girl has not yet identified the spot, as she was not familiar with the place. The police have launched an investigation in the case.
