As if the Sherlock Holmes season 4 teaser wasn’t enough to send fans into a tizzy, Benedict Cumberbatch recently featured in a video that went viral on social media.
In a preview for Letters Live – an event where celebrities read out real-life letters from the past – the British heartthrob read out a letter written by 18-year-old Tom Hanks to George Roy Hill, the late American director.
Known for doing uncannily accurate impressions of his fellow actors, Cumberbatch does not disappoint here as well. He reads out the letter, much to the amusement of the audience, and does an impressive Hanks imitation in the process.

Cumberbatch also told Jess Denham of The Independent that Letters Live is a “unique experience” which allows people a peek into someone else’s life. “Hearing their letters read aloud in such a magical setting allows us to share the happiness, sadness, excitement and pain of that moment together,” he added.
The show will take place in October.
