Perumbavoor court remanded Ameerul Islam, the key accused in Jisha rape and murder case to judicial custody till July 13 on Thursday.

In a first, the police did not cover his face when he was taken to Perumbavoor court, reportedly upon the court’s instruction.

Reports say that he was taken from Aluva police club to the court in a van and that there are no similarities with the suspect sketch released by the police.

This is the first time he was produced in the court without covering his face, unlike the earlier times when he was made to wear a helmet or cover up his face with a mask. The investigation team had earlier denied permission to the media to release visuals of the accused stating that it would affect the investigation.

However, the court observed that there was no need to cover up his face since the identification parade is over.

A new interpreter was produced in the court on Thursday, as the earlier interpreter is reported to have revealed information to the media.
