Darshan’s 50th film Kurukshetra, a historical film based on Mahabharata, will go on the floors on August 7. This was revealed on the film’s producer Muni Ratna’s birthday a couple of days ago. Earlier, there were reports that the film’s Muhurat would be on the producer’s birthday July 23 but it has been postponed to July 30. However, the announcement regarding Kurukshetra’s muhurat and shooting came on the producer’s birthday. The producer is also a noted politician in Karnataka and we also hear that the Karnataka Chief Minster Siddharamaiah has consented to grace the film’s puja.

With Kurukshetra being Darshan’s landmark film, there are a lot of expectations from it. Earlier, there were reports that the star had walked out of it after the project got delayed for various reasons. However, that seems to be a mere rumour as the team is busy with the prep work which was the reason behind the delay.

Kurukshetra, touted to be a high budget movie, will be directed by Naganna. Incidentally, Darshan and Naganna had teamed up a few years ago to come up with the hit flick Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna. It was a commercial success and also went on to win a few prestigious awards. Incidentally, it was also a historical film and a biopic on Sangolli Rayanna, a prominent freedom fighter from Karnataka who was murdered by the British in 1831. Having teamed up for a historical film and tasted success before, the duo is expected to recreate the magic with Kurukshetra, a period film as well.

According to sources, all details about the rest of the cast and crew will be revealed on the day of the muhurat on July 30. Well, the Challenging Star’s fans are just waiting for it to unfold.
