The Oviya Army can rejoice now that rumours of her leaving Kanchana 4 have been put to rest.
Last week, there was talk of the actor leaving the hit franchise for undisclosed reasons, but sources in the film camp have said that she is very much a part of the project and is currently shooting her portion. “Everything you’ve been reading about her exit are just rumours. She is still part of the film and she’s already shot a major part of her role,” one of the sources said.
Oviya Helen shot to fame earlier this year thanks to the hit reality show, Bigg Boss, which was hosted by Kamal Haasan. Her popularity skyrocketed among fans, and the Oviya Army was set up to ensure she stayed in the house. However, unable to deal with the pressure, she moved out of the Bigg Boss house only to be flooded with film offers. One of the first offers she signed was the fourth installment of Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana franchise. She has already acted in a couple of horror films, Yaamirukka Bayamey and Hello Naan Pei Pesuren, and fans were eager to see her in another one.
The actor has a slew of films in her kitty including Silukkuvarupatti Singam and Oviya Vitta Yaaru Seeni in Tamil and Idi Naa Love Story in Telugu.
Actor-filmmaker Raghava Lawrence has not had a great year -- two major releases of his, Motta Siva Ketta Siva and Sivalinga, failed to click at the box office, leaving him with no option other than returning to his most-successful Kanchana franchise. It has been announced that Kanchana 4, the next installment in the Muni series, will also feature Vedhika and newbie Nikita in leading roles.
The film is being produced by Sun Pictures, who are making a comeback to production after a hiatus. The first part in the franchise, Muni, released in 2007, the second part, called Muni 2: Kanchana, came out in 2011 and the third, which released in 2015, was titled Kanchana 2. All the three parts did extremely well at the box office and cemented Lawrence’s position in the industry.
