Fahadh Faasil starrer Trance was announced over a year ago. The film has been progressing slowly and steadily and is nearly reaching the post production phase. Reports are that an important schedule was completed in Amsterdam recently and the team headed back to India.

Sources close to the Trance team say that some important scenes will be canned in Ernakulam for a week and then it will go into the post production stage.

The first look poster of Trance was released a few months ago. It featured Fahadh Faasil sitting on what appears to be a cot, with two pairs of legs hanging right above him. Trance is directed by Anward Rasheed and scripted by Vadakkan Vincent. Bankrolled by Anwar Rasheed under his banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainments, the film stars Fahadh in the lead role with Vinayakan, Soubin Shahir, Chemban Vinod, Sreenath Bhasi and Alphonse Puthran also included in the cast. Apart from directing and producing the film, Anwar Rasheed is also handling the camera.

Earlier, when the film was announced, there were reports that Fahadh plays a priest in it but the filmmakers are keeping every other detail about it under the wraps. The release is expected to be on April 28.

Fahadh Faasil and Anwar Rasheed have earlier teamed up for one of the segments in the anthology Anchu Sundarikal and this is their second venture together.

The actress was last seen in 'Sita', directed by Teja.
  • Monday, July 08, 2019 - 16:59

Director Teja’s last outing at the theatres was Sita, a heroine-centric film. It had Kajal Aggarwal playing the lead role. Though the actor was lauded for her performance in the film, it did not fare well at the box office.  Sita was a romantic entertainer that had Bellamkonda Sreenivas in the lead role with Sonu Sood in a crucial role. Anoop Rubens composed the tunes for this flick with Sirsha Ray in charge of the cinematography and Venkateswara Rao Kotagiri as editor.

Putting this box office dud behind him, Teja is all set to move forward with his next. The groundwork for this venture is on and we can expect an official announcement soon. Meanwhile, there is a buzz that Kajal may be roped in for this project too as she shares a good rapport with the director.

Prior to the release of Sita, Teja has directed Nene Raju Nene Mantri, which had Rana Daggubati in the lead role. Interestingly, this film also had Kajal Agarwal playing the female lead along with Catherine Tresa.

Kajal is currently expecting the release of Paris Paris, which is the Tamil remake of the hit Hindi flick Queen. The film is directed by Ramesh Aravind and produced by Manu Kumaran.

Queen, which fetched Kangna Ranaut the coveted Nation Award for Best Acting, was also a big commercial success. The film, directed by Vikas Bhal, starred Kangana Ranaut, Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon in the lead roles. Queen was produced by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures in association with Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena on a budget of Rs 12.5 crore and it went on to collect Rs 108 crore at the box office.

Kajal also has two films, Komali in Tamil and Rana Rangam in Telugu in her kitty right now.

The complaint has been filed by the Valmiki community for allegedly tarnishing the image of the great sage Valmiki by making a film.
  • Monday, July 08, 2019 - 16:51

The Telugu film Valmiki is the remake of the hit Tamil movie Jigarthanda that was written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film has Varun Tej reprising the role of Bobby Simha in Tamil. Atharvaa Murali has been roped in to do the role done by Siddharth in the original. Harish Shankar is wielding the megaphone for this remake. Valmiki is bankrolled by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under their banner. On the technical front, Mickey J Meyer has been roped in to compose music for this flick with Ayanaka Bose handling the camera. Chota K Prasad will edit the film.

While the shooting of this film has been progressing well, the stumbling block came in the form of a police complaint filed by the representatives of the Valmiki Reservation Porata Samithi. Their allegation is that the filmmakers are trying to tarnish the image of the great sage Valmiki by making a film.

Reacting to this police complaint, director Harish Shankar wrote online, “Valmiki poojinchina Ramudu Kooda Dharmam Kosam fighting chesadu.... anyways we will respect and consider the concerns of #Valmiki Community.” (sic)

Clarifying that Varun Tej’s character isn’t even named Valmiki in the first place, he added, “And before getting into anything I would like to clearly state that the hero’s name is NOT “Valmiki “ in the film .... So our hero isn’t named after the great VALMIKI.”

The pre-teaser of Valmiki was unveiled recently and has been received well by fans. The teaser featured the lead stars Varun Tej, Pooja Hegde and Atharvaa. Interestingly, Tamil hero, Atharvaa is making his debut in Tollywood with this flick. From the teaser that has no dialogues, we can see that Varun Tej will be sporting a new look in the film. He can be seen sporting a beard with a scar on his face.

Veteran newsreader Fathima Babu became the first contestant of Tamil reality show Bigg Boss season 3 to be evicted on Sunday. Fathima Babu was a newsreader of DD Podhigai, the Tamil version of Doordarshan news, and later for Jaya TV. She's also a theatre artist and actor who has performed in serials and a few films.

The show was launched with 15 contestants from various fields. During the weekend special show on Saturday, Kamal Hassan first revealed that Madhumitha has been saved by the audience. The eviction was announced only on Sunday.

With other contestants getting a lot of support from their fan armies, Fathima has found little support online and this might be the main reason for her getting evicted from the Bigg Boss house. Meanwhile, Madhumitha fans aka Madhumitha army  started canvassing for Fathima on Twitter after their favourite was saved on Saturday.

Kamal Haasan and other contestants appreciated Mohan Vaidya's captaincy during the second week. Fathima was given a special opportunity by Kamal to select the leader contestant of the house for the third week, following which she selected Abhirami Venkatachalam, Sandy, and Tharshan Thiyagarajah. One of them will get elected after a task which will be conducted on Monday.

With the show getting into the third-week, there have been a lot of fights and other issues inside the house throughout the second week, While the audiences feel contestants Saravanan and Fathima have remained mute spectators over the issues, they believe Cheran seems to be playing a safe game.

In the second week, Vanitha was visited by the Telangana police due to a custody battle over her daughter. The police questioned her via video conferencing. The second week also saw choreographer Sandy's birthday being celebrated in the house. He was surprised by Bigg Boss with an audio-visual of his daughter.

A picture of Mohanlal in China has been circulating online much to the delight of his fans. “China has significance in a story that is set in Kunnamkulam, where you get all types of duplicate goods,” said director Joju in an interview to the Times of India.

Ittymaani: Made in China is directed by debut directors Jibi and Joju and bankrolled by Anthony Perumbavoor under his banner Aashirvad Cinemas. The title poster of the film was unveiled some time ago and it featured a laughing Buddha indicating that it will be a comic caper. A poster revealed a couple of months ago showed Mohanlal in Margam Kali costume, dancing with 512 others, in front of a church. Radikaa Sarathkumar, who had acted opposite him in the 1985 film Koodum Thedi, will also act in this film.

The title ‘Kunjali Marakkar’ was bestowed on naval chiefs during the 16th century and these naval chiefs fought valiantly against the Portuguese army. There were four Kunjali Marakkars during that era, of which the fourth is the most valiant and popular.

"I pitched the story to him but he didn’t show interest, so I went ahead and cast someone else,” said Manikandan.

Kaaka Muttai fame director Manikandan, who is getting ready with his next project Kadaisi Vivasayi, which has a 70-year-old in the titular role of a farmer, has revealed that he had originally approached superstar Rajinikanth with the offer to play the lead role in the film. In his recent interview to a Tamil daily, Manikandan said he felt Rajinikanth would be apt to play the protagonist who swears by farming. “If Rajini sir plays such a character, you can’t even imagine the kind of impact it will have on the audiences about farming. I pitched the story to him but he didn’t show interest, so I went ahead and cast someone else.”

The film features Vijay Sethupathi in a cameo. Having worked together in Aaandavan Kattalai, Manikandan felt Sethupathi’s presence will add lot of weight to the film. “Vijay Sethupathi plays Ramaiah, a Lord Murugan devotee. His role demanded a lot of physical work, like climbing hills. If he was playing a hero, I would have told him to do this without hesitation. But I felt bad to tell him to do all this when he is only playing a supporting character. But, Sethupathi being who he is, he did all that which was essential for the character,” Manikandan was quoted in a report by

Kadaisi Vivasayi has been produced by Eros International. On bankrolling the project, Eros had said in a statement: “It is really sad to know that Cola factories and corporate industries are playing hide and seek with farmers’ lives. Farmer suicides are most rampant in India. They are the starting point of our entire food chain but the occupation in itself is on the verge of becoming obsolete. When Manikandan narrated Kadaisi Vivasayi to us, we knew that the film will hit the right chords with all audiences, regardless of any age, gender or class.”
