AR Murugadoss’s Darbar, starring Rajinikanth in the role of a cop after 25 years is currently in its post-production stage. Director Murugadoss took to Twitter on Thursday morning to announce that the crew is all set to start working for the dubbing of the film. He posted, "Thalaivarin Darbar Dubbing starts today!!!#DarbarThiruvizha."

The film also stars Nayanthara, Prateik Babbar, Nivetha Thomas, Dalip Tahil, Yogi Babu and Suniel Shetty in important roles. Prateik won’t play the main antagonist and will be seen playing the son of the actor who plays the primary villain. The film will hit the screens during the Pongal festival next year.

Popular lensman Santosh Sivan has been roped in for this film. The film will mark Sivan’s reunion with Rajinikanth after Mani Ratnam’s Thalapathi. Anirudh Ravichander has been signed to compose music with lyricist Vivek penning the lyrics. This will be his second successive film with Rajinikanth after Petta. Leading stunt director duo – Ram and Lakshman – to choreograph the action sections and A Sreekar Prasad for editing.  

The film was originally supposed to be bankrolled by Sun Pictures, who backed out after the recent Sarkar controversy. Lyca Productions, the makers of 2.0, took over the reins of the project and are going all out to make this a lavish project. This would be the third outing for Lyca Productions with Rajinikanth after Kaala was distributed and magnum opus 2.0 was produced.

Meanwhile, Superstar is set to collaborate for his next with director Siva. Currently dubbed as Thalaivar 168 the shooting of the film is set to begin soon which will be bankrolled by Sun Pictures. It was announced recently that D Imman has been roped in as the composer.

The first look poster of Ravi Teja’s upcoming film is out and the title has been revealed to be Krack. The poster featuring Ravi Teja with the title has been received well by netizens. The lead star sports a new look with a twirled moustache and beard. The first look also indicates that Krack will be an action entertainer. It has been reported that Ravi Teja will be playing the role of a cop and that Shruti Haasan has been roped in to essay the role of the female lead.

“My film is loosely based on real events that happened a few years ago. The story follows the life of a ruthless yet fierce police officer and presents Ravi Teja in a new avatar,” the actor had stated earlier to the Cinema Express.

Samuthirakani and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar are also playing crucial roles in the film which is being directed by Gopichand Malineni. Krack commenced shooting on November 14.

Ravi Teja and Gopichand share a good rapport having worked together in the hit movie Balupu and Don Seenu. Both these films have turned out to be hit and this is their third venture together giving rise to speculation that they will come up with a hat trick. Also, Samuthirakani has directed Ravi Teja in Shambo Shiva Shambo, the Telugu remake of the hit Tamil movie Nadodigal.

Veteran producer Allu Aravind had sounded the clapboard and Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao switched on the camera to mark the beginning of the film at its muhurat yesterday. Shooting has begun began for the film which is expected to hit the marquee during summer of 2020.

Tollywood actor Venkatesh’s fans have been waiting eagerly for the star’s upcoming film Venky Mama to hit the silver screens. Mammootty’s Maamangam was to have hit the marquee on November 21 but was postponed to December 12 due to a delay in VFX works. The film is currently in the last leg of post-production. While expectations are high on it, a pic from Maamangam, featuring Mammootty made it to the popular Malayalam magazine Vanitha recently. The megastar is seen in a never-seen-before avatar in it which has raised the expectations several notches up. Mammootty, sporting long locks of hair adorned with large ear studs and bindi, has created a sense of curiosity among his fans.

Reports are that Maamangam will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu besides Malayalam. Recently, Unni Mukundan had revealed that he has dubbed for his portions for the Hindi version with his own voice as he is proficient in the language.

Besides Mammootty and Unni Mukundan, it also has Kaniha, Anu Sithara, Tarun Raj Arora, Prachi Tehlan, Sudev Nair, Suresh Krishna, Manikuttan and Siddique playing important roles.

Maamangam began its production with debut director Sajeev Pillai wielding the megaphone. Maamangam is a historical film that revolves around the life of the warriors known as Chaaverukal, who plotted against the Zamorin rulers to overthrow them. The film is based on the Maamaankam festival celebrated during the 17th century, in which warriors from different parts of the country would arrive on the banks of the Bharatapuzha to fight against each other to prove their superiority.

Producer Mathiyazhagan of Etcetera Entertainment has alleged that Atharvaa has cheated him to the tune of Rs 6 crores.

Producer Mathiyazhagan of Etcetera Entertainment has filed a police complaint at the Commissioner Office in Chennai against the Tamil star Atharvaa. In his complaint, the producer has alleged that Atharvaa has cheated him to the tune of Rs 6 crores and sought action against the actor in this regard.

A detailed report about the complaint states that Mathiyazhagan procured the rights of the Tamil film Semma Botha Aagathey from Atharvaa for Rs 5.5 crores but the film did not do well at the box office. Following this, the producer and actor entered into another agreement according to which Atharvaa agreed to do another for the producer to settle the losses.

The complaint now is that Atharvaa is refusing to cooperate with the producer after it was agreed. In his complaint, the producer has stated that Atharvaa agreed to star in the film Minnal Veeran, directed by Saravanan but is refusing to cooperate even after several reminders.

Atharvaa recently made his debut in Tollywood with Gaddalakonda Ganesh, the remake of the hit Tamil film Jigarthanda. He reprised the role done by Siddharth in the original. Harish Shankar is the director of Gaddalakonda Ganeshand it had Varun Tej and Pooja Hegde playing the main leads.

The film had Varun Tej reprising the role done by Bobby Simha in Tamil. It was bankrolled by Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta under their banner. On the technical front, Mickey J Meyer was roped in to compose music for this flick with Ayanaka Bose handling the camera and Chota K Prasadi edited the film.

Atharvaa currently has Othaikku Oththai in the post-production mode. It is touted to be an action drama written and directed by Barnesh. The film has Atharvaa and Sri Divya in the lead roles, with Narain, Chandhana and Vidya Pradeep in pivotal roles.

Vikram's next yet-untitled project with director Ajay Gnanamuthu went on floors recently. The film is currently dubbed as Vikram 58. After a long promotional tour for his son Dhurv's debut film Adithya Varma, Vikram has joined the sets recently.

The shooting of the film is currently underway in Alleppey where a grand song sequence is being canned and Vikram is sporting a long hair look for the sequence. Tthe team is planning to shoot for nearly 10 days in Kerala.

The project marks the first-time collaboration between Vikram and Ajay. The director is best known for helming Demonte Colony and last year’s Imaikka Nodigal starring Nayanthara.

The film will be a pan-Indian project catering to the Tamil, Hindi and Telugu audience. There are rumors that Vikram might be seen playing a photographer in the film.

Sasikumar and Jyothika are all set to team up for a new film. Reports say that Saravanan, who had directed Kathukutti, a film on the importance of farming, will be wielding the megaphone for this venture.

The Telugu film Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya, starring Naveen Polishetty in the lead role, did well at the box office and won positive reviews. The film was directed by Swaroop RSJ with Naveen playing the lead role. He also co-wrote the story along with the director.

The film was produced by Rahul Yadav Nakka. Shruti Sharma, Darbha Appaji Ambarisha and Suhas played important roles in this entertainer, which is about the dangers of a Nellore-based detective, who investigates the case of an abandoned dead body found near a railway track, has to endure during the course of an investigation.

With excellent box office records, plans are on to remake this comedy thriller in Tamil. Reports are that the comedian turned hero Santhanam is in talks to reprise the role done by Naveen in the original. Manoj Beedha of Vanjagar Ulagam fame is likely to direct the remake.  There are also reports of Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya being remade in Hindi but details about it are yet to be disclosed.

Recently Santhanam signed a new film in which he will be essaying triple roles for the first time in his career. To be written and directed by Karthik Yogi, the film will be produced by Balloon director Sinish in association with KJR Studios, who had recently bankrolled Nayanthara’s Airaa. It is worth mentioning that Santhanam has previously played a dual role in the Karthi-starrer All in All Azhagu Raja. The upcoming yet-untitled project will go on floors soon and the makers are planning to release it in April 2020. The film will have two female leads, and if the industry grapevine is anything to go by, then Oviya is said to have been approached for one of the roles. 

The actor's last releases Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 and A1 earlier this year were well-received by audiences. He currently has Dagaalty in the making.
