Google India has announced that YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium are now available in India on a monthly or three-monthly subscription basis. The subscription can be availed using a credit or debit card. There is a facility to keep extending the subscription period online.
Within the YouTube Premium subscription, you get to listen to advertisement-free music. You can listen to the music in the background so that you can carry on your other activity online. You can also download the music within the app. All these are advantages for existing listeners on YouTube. The advertisement intrusion while listening to your favourite music can be an irritant and every time you have to keep a watch and press the Skip Ad button to keep listening. Similarly, for downloading, you need a separate download app to cut paste the URL of the videos or soundtracks to listen offline. With your Premium subscription, it is a sweet goodbye to these hassles.
Ad-free feature and download facility is available in the YouTube Premium offer as well. You have access to the YouTube original videos as well, which you cannot access otherwise.
You may get a three-month free subscription as well in some cases.
The monthly subscription for YouTube Music Premium is Rs 99 per month. This is the standard subscription. There is a family subscription available where you can have a maximum of five family members connected with one subscription of Rs 149 per month. If you are a student, submit the appropriate ID and enjoy this subscription for Rs 59 only per month.
For availing the YouTube Premium service, you need to pay Rs 129 per month. The family subscription here is Rs 189 per month and for students it is Rs 79 per month.
Users can also upgrade from a YouTube Music Premium membership to a YouTube Premium membership on a pre-paid plan.
The YouTube Premium subscription includes the features of the YouTube Music Premium as well.
