As the issue of voter deletion and data breaching shrouds politics in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Speaker K Siva Prasad Rao slammed political strategist and Indian Political Action Committee head Prashant Kishor, who is advising the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and managing his campaign.

On Sunday, Andhra’s Chief Electoral Officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi alleged that there were mischievous attempts to delete voters en masse by using applying for Form-7 on behalf of the voter without their consent. (Form 7 is an application for voter deletion). According to reports, the ECI received as many 8 lakh applications, seeking deletion of voters. However, as the authorities stumbled upon such a huge volume of requests, an inquiry was launched. The authorities filed 45 FIRs and also took action against Mee Seva- local helpline- employees involved in the scam. “Police were instructed to investigate and take criminal action in such cases, if found true. District Collectors were advised to lodge FIRs for this kind of mischief,” the CEO said in a press release.

On Tuesday, Andhra Speaker K Sivaprasad Rao, alleged during a press meet in Guntur that his vote had also been deleted. “The YSRCP filed Form-7 on my behalf and removed it in Narasaraopet,” the Speaker alleged. “In Narasaraopet, they deleted 1,500 votes. This is happening across the state.

“In my several years of politics, I have never seen an incident where they apply for deletion of voters without the knowledge of voters and then try to hide by blaming the government. I think it is PK's (Prashant Kishor) strategy,” Andhra speaker K Siva Prasad Rao said.

Andhra CM Naidu also lashed out at Prashant Kishor earlier, and said that it was due to his advice that Jagan was applying for deletion of voters.

“What do they think of themselves and this place - Bihar? No, it is Andhra Pradesh. I will cut off your tails and not allow you to wag the tail as you wish,” he warned.

In a tweet, he said, “A person from Bihar is the consultant for the YSRCP. 8 lakh TDP votes were removed. For this, form-7 was used. Looks like tomorrow they can delete my vote too.”

When TNM asked Prashant Kishor about these allegations, he said that it was for Jagan Mohan Reddy and YSRCP to react to them.
