A picture by Yemeni photographer Bushra Almutawakel titled “Disparition”  illustrating how women could vanish into darkness and invisibility, step by step, under fundamentalist pressure and the full niqab, has triggered a debate on social media.

The picture posted by GlobalVoicesOnline on their Facebook page has been shared more than 60,000 times and many people have joined the debate about the hijab and burqa.

One user says: "Hijab is not farz...but yes..when u do it for the love of Allah.....ur a winner...if u do it under pressure and hating it......then, its a different scene altogether...no woman can be forced to follow or do anything she doesn't want to in Islam, as long as she is right..Islam gives a woman every ryt and all the freedom."

Another says: "Do whatever you feel in your country but if you all visit or even decide to live in other countries, you should adapt to them, the same way we have to cover ourselves in your countries. What your religion should consider is respect for women!"

Comment- "In my opinion, women, where ever they live, should be free to wear whatever they wish."
