Yatra NTR biopic to hit silver screen on February 8

The two most-awaited biopics that are currently in the making will be hitting the silver screens on the same day. It is well known that the NTR biopic is being made in two parts – Kathanayakudu and Mahanayakudu. While the former will be about NT Rama Rao’s film career, the latter will be on his rise in the political arena. The first part, Kathanayakudu will be a Sankaranthi release while the second part Mahanayakudu will make it to the theatres on February 8.

Interestingly, another biopic is also set for release on the same day. Reports are that the YSR biopic, Yatra will be released on February 8. The hurry to release the biopics is to ensure that it is out at the theatres before the election code of conduct is in place with the Andhra state legislative assembly scheduled to happen in April.

The NTR biopic is being helmed by J Krish and produced jointly N Balakrishna along with Vishnu Induri and Sai Korrapati. Balayya is playing the role of his dada NTR in it. The film has an impressive star cast with Vidya Balan, Mohan Babu, Sumanth, Keerthy Suresh, Rana Daggubati and others. N Balakrishna will be seen playing his dad NTR in the film, and it will have Sumanth playing Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Vidya Balan as NTR’s wife Basvatharakam, and Rana Daggubati as N Chandrababu Naidu. MM Keeravani is composing music for this venture with Gnana Shekar V.S cranking the camera and Arram Ramakrishna editing it.

Yatra, the biopic on YSR, has Mammootty playing the legendary leader. It has a bevy of stars in the cast including Jagapathi Babu, who plays YSR's father YS Raja Reddy, Rao Ramesh as KVP Ramachandra Rao, who was YSR's closest friend from his medical college days and Suhasini Mani Ratnam as the former minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. The film is being directed by Mahi V Raghav.
