It was recently announced that the Yash starrer KGF will be out in theatres on November 16, but it has now been confirmed that the release stands postponed. According to trade sources, KGF will release on December 21 to cash in on the long Christmas weekend. Yash has had the best of hits released during the Christmas season and wants to make the most of it during this year as well, we hear.

The plan earlier was to release the Kannada, Tamil and Telugu versions of the film simultaneously and later the Hindi and Malayalam dubbed versions. With the shifting of the release date to December 21, all the five versions of KGF will be out on the same date. It may be noted here that KGF was first planned as a Christmas release and then advanced to November. But now, the filmmakers have decided to stick to the original release plan.

Touted to be one of the high budget movies in Sandalwood, KGF is directed by Prashanth Neel, who has also written the story, screenplay and dialogues. Vijay Kiragandur is bankrolling the project under his banner Hombale Films. The technical team comprises music director Ravi Basrur, cinematographer Bhuvan Gowda and art director Shivakumar. While Yash and Srinidhi Shetty play the lead pair, the rest of the star cast includes Achyuth Kumar, Nassar, Malavika Avinash, Anant Nag and Vasishta N Simha. The film is narrated by Anant Nag.

The USP of KGF would be a retro number featuring Tamannaah and Yash. Choreographed by Jani master, it is a reinvented version of the song ‘Jokae naanu balliya minchu’ from the 1970 Dr Rajkumar starrer Paropakari. Reports say that Tamannaah was paid a whopping Rs 50 lakh just for this performance.

On doing a retro number for the first time in her career, Tamannaah reportedly told TOI, “This is the first time I will be doing a retro number. I’ve never had such a fun-filled fulfilling experience like I did on this dance sequence. It is a retro cabaret set-up and I’ve never attempted to do this before so, it was a learning experience of sorts.”
