Indicating that the release of its next smartphone may be close at hand, Xiaomi has uploaded posters of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 on Twitter. This is as far as the Indian market and maybe some other markets too are concerned since the phone has already made its appearance in China in July.

What makes the Tweet interesting is the caption ‘Something really BIG is coming your way!’ When you are told the new phone would sport a 6.9-inch FHD+ display, and an aspect ratio of 18:9, you will know why Xiaomi says this.

In China, Xiaomi has launched the Mi Max 3 with the Android Oreo OS laced with its own MIUI 9.5 skin, there is no clarity yet on what it will do with the OS in the other markets.

Talking of other specifications, the phone will be fitted with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC. Xiaomi is expected to launch 2 versions of the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 as far as the RAM/ROM is concerned. A 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage combination and 6GB/128GB combination may be on the cards.

The microSD card provision to lift the storage by another 256Gb will also be available. The battery, at 5,500mAh, is going to be really huge, by any reckoning. With support from Qualcomm QuickCharge 3.0 for fast charging, you may never run out of power in the Mi Max 3. There’s a physical fingerprint scanner on the rear panel.

On the optics front, a dual 12MP+5MP sensor placed vertically adorns the rear while an 8MP sensor is in the front for taking selfies and also double as the face recognition tool.

There is still no information on the price Xiaomi will fix for the new phone when introduced in India. The prices in China are 1699 (roughly Rs 18,000) and 1999 Yuan (roughly Rs 21,000) respectively, for the 4GB/64GB and 6GB/128GB variants of Xiaomi Mi Max 3.
