Xiaomi seems to be on a smartphone launching spree. The latest set of leaks with some amount of official confirmation as well is the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The phone’s specifications indicate that the specs are indeed top-drawn.
To begin with, the display is as big as 6.4 inches with the front forehead completely removed from the screen. The QHD display will sport a resolution of 2560x1440p. Like its predecessor, the Mi Mix, this phone also crosses the figure of 90 when it comes the screen to body ratio. While it was 91.3% in the Mi Mix, it is expected to be above 93% on this soon to be launched Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.
It is pertinent to clarify here how Xiaomi has managed to accommodate the proximity sensor and the speaker in the absence of the forehead. An ultrasonic sensor that can pierce the display screen and mechanical waves are generated that goes through the phone’s body facilitates the function of the speaker. The other fixture, the front camera for selfies is placed in the bottom.
The Mi Mix 2 is expected to sport a Snapdragon 835 processor and the OS would be the Android Nougat version 7.1.1. Xiaomi’s MIUI will unmistakably be there too.
The phone is likely to be released in 3 RAM + storage variants; 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB with no provision for a microSD slot for expanding the memory. With these figures, you may not need additional storage perhaps.
The battery on the Mi Mix 2 will also be big at 4500mAh. The cameras are being speculated to be 19MP at the back and 13MP at the front. All connectivity options will be on tap and should pose no limitation.
The rest of the information on the exact date of release of the phone, the markets it will be launched in and most importantly the pricing information are all still to be revealed. If all these specifications hold and the phone receives good reviews, then Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2 can give a very good fight to the majors.
