Working with Rajini is a lifetime achievement, says this National Award winner

Ever since Samuthirakani signed up to star in Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Kaala, he has been in a state of excitement. Looking forward to work with the Superstar, the actor – director had said that it felt like a lifetime achievement.

He was quoted by the Hindustan Times as saying, “When I finished the first shot with Rajini sir, I felt so proud about myself. It felt like a lifetime achievement. I have waited really long to share screen space with him.”

Though we know that Samuthirakani has been roped in to play a pivotal role, he refused to disclose any further details about his character in the film. Samuthirakani, a National Award winner, had been looking for the right opportunity to work with Rajinikanth and it finally happened with Kaala.

Incidentally, he won the National Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2016 for Visaranai, which was co-produced by Dhanush under his banner Wunderbar Films. Directed by Pa Ranjith, Kaala has a bevy of stars in the cast including Easwari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Sukanya, Nana Patekar, Sayaji Shinde, Anjali Patil and Aravind Akash.

Santosh Narayan is composing music for this venture with G Murali and Sreekar Prasad in charge of the camera and editing respectively. Kala is a gangster flick that will have Rajinikanth play an aged gangster with Easwari Rao as his wife.

All other details about the film are being kept under wraps. The shooting of this flick commenced in Mumbai on May 28th this year and it is expected to hit the silver screens in early 2018. The next schedule of the film would commence on July 10th and Rajini would be joining the sets a couple of days later, we hear. The superstar’s son-in-law and actor Dhanush is bankrolling this magnum opus under his banner Wunderbar Films.
