Basking in the success of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, actor Karthi had a chat session with his fans on Tuesday evening and revealed his desire to direct his brother Suriya. It should be noted that Karthi started his career as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam on the sets of his brother’s film Aayutha Ezhuthu before making his acting debut with National award-winning Tamil film Paruthiveeran. In his chat, he wrote: “When I was an assistant director, I was writing a script for anna only. Let’s see, someday if I impress him with my script I may get to direct him (sic),” he said.

Karthi also dropped hints about a sequel to Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru. “We don’t have a script yet but I hope we find something interesting,” Karthi said while heaping praise on director Vinoth, who impressed critics and audiences alike with the film. Talking about Vinoth, he wrote: “Vinod is a well read director. Very clear about screen time and what will work on screen. Always wants to give some additional information to the audience and educate them apart from entertaining.”

As expected, fans asked him about Vijay and Ajith. Talking about Vijay, Karthi said: “I've known Vijay sir since he was in Loyola College with anna. Extremely simple man but very confident.”

He described Ajith as a very warm person and a thorough gentleman. He said one will like him more after you meet him.

On Sunday, speaking at the success meet of Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru, Karthi said: “The success of this movie has given me a lot of confidence that I can try such new genres (which are neither a high commercial masala nor a very realistic movie) in future. “I sincerely follow what my brother Suriya used to tell me. ‘Please keep working! One day, you will reap results.’

Each time when my film gets released, people always compare it with my debut film Paruthiveeran and comment that nothing comes near that film. Now, finally I am happy that Theeran… has surpassed that and people say this is the best film of mine. Many have been appreciating me that I have worked hard in this film. But it was actually Kaatru Veliyidai that took huge efforts and was a physically challenging film in my career. But it did not give the desired results.” In the film, Karthi plays an uptight cop who, with the help of his team, investigates a series of crimes that shake up the state of Tamil Nadu and the police department.
