“None of the kin of the victims (who were associated with the Vyapam scam) had ever said that the deaths were unnatural and issued a complaint about it." This is what Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan told India Today's Rahul Kanwal when asked about lack of enquiry into the deaths of more than 24 people who were either witnesses or accused in the Vyapam case. The MP CM’s remark came in this interview with India Today. (Watch- 9.29)Was Chouhan not lying?Anand Rai, one of the whistle blowers in the case says MP CM was lying in his interview to India Today.“The CM is lying. In 2012, the High Court was moved in the Namrata Domar case. Namrata's brother and mother had pleaded that the court should intervene as there had been no progress in investigation, in spite of post mortem proving murder. The court even passed an order. How can the CM then say none of the families ever said the deaths were murders?” says Rai.It was on January 7 2012 that the dead body of Namrata, a 25-year-old student of MGM Medical college, was found near railway tracks at Kayta village in Ujjain.The autopsy found that she was smothered to death and semen was found on her clothes, reported The Times of India. Namrata was one of the candidates who according to investigators had got a Pre-Medical Test in 2010 using unfair means, and her parents alleged that they had an argument with Jagdish Sagar, the kingpin of the scam, before her murder. It was the same Namrata'a parents who Aaj Tak journalist Akshay Singh was interviewing, when he died mysteriously.Rai, along with Ashish Chaturvedi, a fellow whistle-blower, has filed a petition in the Supreme Court five days ago asking for a CBI probe. He expects the SC to take suo-moto cognizance of the matter in the coming few days.“We have sufficient evidence at our disposal now,” he says.Rai also says that the CM should not claim that he unearthed the scam and exposed it. “Again, he his lying. If he is taking credit for that he should explain how exactly he exposed this scam?”Chouhan has now said that he has no qualms about an independent CBI inquiry into the matter.Referring to the deaths of Kailash Singh Tomar and Narendra Arya in the prior week, the CM had added that the opposition in the state had raised these issues time and time again.The deaths of Tomar and Arya preceded the mysterious deaths of India Today journalist Akshay Singh on Saturday and Dr Arun Sharma on Sunday.While former two were accused in the scam, the latter duo were in various stages of investigating the MPPEB scam, commonly referred to as the Vyapam scam.The deaths of Singh and Sharma in the past few days have raised more questions than answers in a scam which has been steadily unfolding.Here is the single bench order of the MP HC at Indore in August 2013, directing the Superintendent of Police of Ujjain to take notice of the case of the murder of Namrata Domar.What is the Vyapam Scam and who are implicated?
