The News Minute | August 24, 2014 | 06:56 pm ISTThe Indian Army, one of the largest standing armies in the world, mostly funtions in a discreet manner; for obvious security reasons. What we know of our soldiers is very limited; we hear of the courageous men and women who fight day in day out to protect us, to serve our country, often sacrificing their lives on the way. We read about them, of the battles won and the lives lost and the continuous struggles they deal with, along with the dangers they face. Several Indian movies have tried to cast a glimpse into the lives of these inspirational heroes, to give us viewers a clear picture of what they do at the front. Life is anything but easy for them, but it is now possible to see these men doing what for them are regular chores when they are not up in arms fighting the army. The Twitter page of the Indian Army Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) regularly posts pictures of #LifeInTheArmy. The photographs gives a unique sneak peak into the lives of our soldiers in the army- be it preparing their meals, getting a haircut or the happiness that glows on their faces when they receive a letter from 'home', they speak volumes.
