When an enquiry was ordered, as then Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Kiran Bedi supported her subordinate officer for having done his duty.During her stint in the Traffic Police, Kiran Bedi got the nick name 'Crane' Bedi for she ordered all vehicles violating parking rules to be towed. Even before this incident PM Indira Gandhi knew Kiran Bedi well. She knew how tough the cop was when it came to her duty. On the Republic Day of 1975, it was Kiran Bedi who insisted on her senior that she would lead the Delhi police contingent. As she marched past, she saluted the PM who was overjoyed seeing a lady police officer leading a contingent. So much so that PM Indira Gandhi invited Kiran Bedi for breakfast.
