Resisting all puns pic.twitter.com/UNv0ttuYCI — sukumar ranganathan (@mint_ed) January 7, 2015 On checking, it turns out that an Italian company named Modi International System manufactures apples with a green conscience that ensures as small a carbon footprint as possible, as the company’s website claims. The name Modi (the letter i has a grave mark above it) is a Registered Trademark. According to the company website, the Modi project is part of an international consortium that was initiated in 2007 and now comprises partners in Russia, Serbia and Turkey. And the apples are available in some places in India. Best of all, the company website has a whole bunch of recipes for dishes you can make with apples. Including bread owls, which are as simple as using hazelnut cream, almond or peanut butter and then placing apple slices like this:  It has production centres mostly in Europe and in Australia as well.
