'We will soon be part of LDF', PC George tells TNM

Former breakaway rebel of Kerala Congress (M) PC George said on Monday that it is only a matter of time when his party- Kerala Congress (S) will formally announce its association with the Left Front with an eye on state assembly elections to be held in April.

The six-time MLA from Poonjar in Kottayam district told The News Minute: “All constituents within the LDF are in favour of the Kerala Congress (Secular)’s induction into its fold. Talks were held with all political parties within the LDF. Very soon, we will be part of the LDF.”

The former chief whip of the current UDF-led government who recently resigned from his MLA post said that he expects a formal acknowledgement from the CPI (M) which heads the LDF by the end of Pinarayi Vijayan’s “Nava Kerala March” on February 14.

George who had founded Kerala Congress (S) had merged his party with former state Finance Minister KM Mani's Congress (M) but  but broke away following his criticism  of Mani for his alleged involvement in the bar bribery case.

Political observers in the state feel that this could dent the fortunes of the UDF with its top leaders facing allegations of corruptions in the bar bribery and solar scams.

However, another in bad news for the LDF, Revolutionary Socialist Party MP NK Premachandran categorically denied shifting loyalties from the UDF to the LDF despite a resolution taken at their national conference asking the Kerala unit to consider a return to their Left roots.
