TRS MP Kavitha Kalvakuntla on Thursday extended her support to MPs from Andhra, who have been protesting over 'injustice' to their state in the Union Budget 2018-19.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha on Thursday, the Nizamabad MP said, "Telangana and Andhra Pradesh made many demands during bifurcation and promises were made on the floor of this House. Whatever has been promised to us during the AP Reorganisation Act has to be honoured because governance is a continuous process. Whether it is the Congress government or BJP government, we sincerely request that the promises are fulfilled."
"Since the last two to three days, our Andhra brothers from TDP and YSRCP have been agitating. We support their agitation. However, if they are agitating while being in an alliance with the BJP, it is clearly sending a very wrong message to this nation. So kindly address this issue as soon as possible," she added.
Kavitha also highlighted several issues and problems faced by farmers, incluing the delay in receiving fertiliser subsidies.
She also demanded financial allocation to Telangana's 'Kaleshwaram Project', besides an increased amount of timely subsidy for micro-irrigation to farmers.
The MP also suggested that the union government must include 24 crops to be purchased under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme.
Leaders from both Telugu states have hit back at the Centre over the poor allocation of funds in the Union Budget.
Speaking to reporters earlier this week, Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao said, "No one in India can understand whose purpose this Union Budget serves. NDA allies like the TDP are openly fighting against the Budget in Parliament The amount of love the BJP has shown towards Telangana in the Budget will be returned to the BJP equally by Telangana voters in the 2019 elections.”
The TDP has also been intentionally disrupting Parliament proceedings stating that the Centre had not given the promised financial assistance to Andhra.
This came after TDP president Naidu asked his party MPs to continue the protest till a categorical announcement from the Centre.
