On the occasion of Independence Day, the team of Mahesh Babu’s upcoming film Sarileru Neekevvaru released the title song as a tribute to the Indian Army. The lyric song describes the extreme weather conditions and other hardships the armed forces go through to safeguard our borders.
The 2.30-minute song describes the bravery of Indian soldiers and the Army’s victories against Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war, the 1999 Kargil war, and the 2016 surgical strike. Mahesh Babu, who plays an army officer in the film, also makes an appearance looking smart in uniform.
Sarileru Neekevvaru is written and directed by Anil Ravipudi. Music for the film is composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film is slated for release on Sankranti next year.
Rashmika Mandanna will play the lead opposite Mahesh Babu in the film; this is her first film with the Tollywood star.
Mahesh Babu will be seen in the role of an army officer for the first time in the film. The actor had earlier played the role of a police officer in Pokiri, Dookudu and Aagadu. He will reportedly be seen as an Army major.
On August 10, the makers of the film had released the poster and a special teaser of the film to mark the occasion of Mahesh Babu’s birthday.
According to reports, the film will have two veteran actors Ramya Krishnan and Vijayashanthi in pivotal roles with Rajendra Prasad, Rao Ramesh and producer Bandla Ganesh featuring in the star cast as well. Vijayashanthi, who was busy owing to her political commitments, is returning to films after a long time.
Sarileru Neekevvaru is produced by Ramabrahmam Sunkara. The film is jointly made by Dil Raju under his home banner Sri Venkateswara Creations, along with G Mahesh Babu Entertainment and AK Entertainments.
Mahesh Babu’s last film to release in theatres was Maharshi in May this year. Directed by Vamsi Paidapally, the film received mixed reviews.
