Playing in its 500th test match, India played a near-perfect game to complete a clinical 197-run win against New Zealand at the Green Park stadium in Kanpur to go 1-0 up in the series.
The wrecker-in-chief in the bowling department was Ravichandran Ashwin who captured 10 wickets in the match, for the fifth time in his career.
In the process he also achieved the feat of becoming the second fastest, in terms of number of tests taken, to reach the landmark of 200 wickets in only his 37th test.
