The rumours have now been set to rest; the redoubtable Nokia 3310 that virtually ruled the market in its previous avatar will now be back on the shelves or on online stores in a couple of months. Besides the Nokia 3310 the company has plans to launch 3 other models; The Nokia 3, the Nokia, 6 and the Nokia 5, as per a report on India Today.

Incidentally the company now making these Nokia branded phones is also Finnish, HMD Global and it had also revealed some of its plans at the Mobile World Congress in February 2017.

First, the Nokia 3310’s Features

It is as if the phone has been designed with the low end market phone in India. The phone has a 2.4-inch display and a simple 2MP camera in the rear. The battery will be a 1200 mAh one and it is expected to last a good 30 days on standby and 22 hours on talk time. This was one of the features that the original Nokia 3310 endeared itself to many users. The phone comes with a provision for a microSD card and only 2G connectivity. If you were expecting a Wi-Fi facility, you will be disappointed.

The new Nokia 3310 will have the Series 30, S30+ to be exact, and the internal storage would be a healthy 16GB.

The other smartphones on the radar

The remaining three Nokia phones listed above are Android based smartphones with different specs.

The Nokia 6 is the biggest of the lot with a 5.5-inch full HD display. 3GB RAM and 32GB memory storage give this Nokia phone a lot of respectability. The CPU is only a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 that clocks a speed of a very moderate 1.1GHz. The Android N 7.0 OS will run the Nokia 6 and the batter is also quite good at 3000mAh. Even the camera department has been given a lot of consideration with a 16MP camera in the rear and the front camera is of 8MP.

Nokia 5 is in the middle of the three smartphones featured here with a 5.2-inch display and an octa-core processor with the same 3000mAh battery. The RAM is 2GB and memory 16GB. The rear camera has been slightly scaled down from the Nokia 6 to 13MP in the Nokia 5, while retaining the same 8MP sensor in the front. The OS is also the same Android Nougat, but version 7.1.1.

The 5-inch Nokia 3 is the smallest in terms of the size, but does not have many variations in features from the Nokia 5 except that the camera is identical 8MP in the rear as well as the front. The quad-core processor appears to yield better speed of 1.3GHz. The battery has also been downscaled in the Nokia 3 to 2650mAh.

With regard to the pricing of the 3 smarphones and the new Nokia 3310, the reports are all based on the pre-orders being accepted by a retailer in the UK and they are naturally in Pound Sterling. Roughly calculated they would read as below in Indian Rupees:

Nokia 3310: Rs 5, 000

Nokia 6: Rs 19, 150

Nokia 5: Rs 15, 820

Nokia 3: Rs 12, 490

One will definitely have to wait a little longer till the prices for India are officially announced.
