Chinese phone brand Vivo has launched a high-end dual display phone with 10GB RAM and 128GB internal storage in the Chinese market. Vivo is calling it the “Nex Dual Display Edition”. It’s a sort of a comeback for the Nex series from Vivo.

Some of the other details of the phone are as below:

Starting with the display, the new Nex phone has a 6.39-inch display. It’s called the Ultra FullView display occupying over 91% of the real estate on the display screen. And there’s no notch or hole either on the front screen. The secondary 5.49-inch Super AMOLED display can be found on the rear panel. This display has a lot of attractive and colourful features.

The top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 845SoC is the main processor and as mentioned, a massive 10GB RAM supports the processor with 128GB internal storage. The Android Pie, version 9.0 will be the operating system. There is no mention of a UI; so, one expects the Android OS out of the box to be functional. There won’t be a microSD card slot. It’s a dual SIM device.

The triple camera setup in the rear sees a 12MP dual-pixel main camera, a night video camera and a time of flight (TOF) 3D camera. The primary sensor is the Sony IMX363 model. Vivo was definitely not cutting corners with this Nex Dual Display Edition smartphone. With the large secondary display in the rear, Vivo has eliminated the need for the front camera for selfies. The main camera can be used for taking selfies as well. A 3500mAh battery will power the device.

For unlocking the phone, there will be a 3D facial recognition feature in addition to the in-display fingerprint sensor arrangement.

It is not clear if Vivo has plans of taking this phone to the other markets or not and if so when. As for the pricing, the phone has been CNY4,998 (roughly Rs 52,000).
