At the 100th day celebration of Vikram Vedha, one of the best Tamil films of the year, Vijay Sethupathi opened up on why the film holds a very special place in his career. “The last time I was part of a 100th day celebration of my movie was for Dharmadurai. The success of Vikram Vedha truly belongs to director duo Pushkar-Gayatri. It’s a special film for me because it has taken me to the next level in my career. It earned me respect and love from all. If someone decides to write my biography, Vikram Vedha will hold a special place in that book,” Vijay Sethupathi told reporters.

In the film, directed by husband and wife duo Pushkar-Gayatri, Madhavan plays an encounter cop while Vijay Sethupathi plays a gangster. It’s an edge-of-the-seat thriller based on the mythical tale of King Vikramadityan and the demon Bethal. It's an exploration of the grey space between good and evil.

Speaking on the occasion, Madhavan said that he had anticipated the film’s successful run. “I still remember telling everybody present at the audio launch of the film that I’ll talk more about the film at its 100th day function and here we are today. This film truly belongs to Pushkar and Gayatri and I thank them and the entire team.”

Every person associated with the project was honoured with a memento on the occasion. The film grossed over Rs 60 crore in its theatrical, emerging as one of the genuinely successful ventures of this year. The film even made waves outside India, particular in Japan where it was screened at the 30th edition of Tokyo International Film Festival. The film also stars Shraddha Srinath and Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar in crucial roles.

Reports have emerged that actors Rana Daggubati and Venkatesh are being considered for the film’s Telugu remake and apparently talks have already been initiated with them. Producer Sashikanth of Y Not Studios had discussed the idea with Venkatesh while working on the Telugu film Guru, a remake of Irudhi Suttru, which had released earlier this year. Even before the release of Vikram Vedha, the plan was to remake the film with Rana and Venkatesh in Telugu. Although no official announcement has been made yet, it looks like the project will materialize in a few months. Shah Rukh Khan is most likely to star in the film’s Hindi remake.
