With less than two weeks to go for polling in Tamil Nadu, leaders across the political spectrum are on their final leg of campaigning. DMDK Chief Vijayakant, who was scheduled to campaign in Trichy South on Tuesday, cancelled the rally at the eleventh hour. The actor-turned-politician will now campaign at Perambalur instead of Trichy, and from there head to Thanjavur South, as earlier scheduled.

Sources have also told The News Minute that Captain has redrawn his poll schedule and will now focus his energies on his own constituency of Ulundurpet. As per the initial plan sent by DMDK’s campaign managers, Vijayakant was scheduled to campaign in Ulundurpet on May 6 and 7. But sources have told TNM that the Chief Ministerial candidate for the PWF now intends to conduct back-to-back rallies for five days.

Does this last minute change in plans betray his nervousness? In an interview to TNM last week, Captain’s wife, Premalatha denied that he was scared of losing despite changing his constituency in every election.  In his first election in 2006, Vijayakant stood and won from Vridhachalam while in 2011, he emerged victorious from Rishivandiyam. His new seat of Ulundurpet has alternated between the DMK and the AIADMK since 1984 with the latter party winning in 2011.
