Actor Vijay is on cloud nine with the recent success of his latest movie Mersal. Celebrating the grand success Vijay hosted a big party at his ECR residence in Chennai on Thursday. The party was attended by all the technicians of Mersal. Director Atlee, composer AR Rahman, cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor Ruben, lyricist Vivek and art director T Muthuraj were all present for the party.
The movie was caught up in a controversy after the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP demanded the removal of certain dialogues which criticised the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and digital India, but that doesn't seem to have affected the movie's popularity.
Mersal went on a record-breaking spree and has raked in over Rs 200 crore from collections earnings across the globe. Mersal is fast progressing to becoming one of the highest ever grossers in Tamil cinema.
Meanwhile, the film's album has broken the record of reaching 100 million streams across platforms within a span of 10 days. Ashok Parwani, Head - South, Sony Music India, in an official statement said, “Mersal is a hit on arrival. 100 million streams in unheard of for any film in the south. This is just the beginning, Vijay has cut across geographies and globally too has seen a phenomenal reception.”
The film also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nithya Menen and SJ Suryah in important roles. Produced by Sri Thenandal Studios, the film has been dubbed in Telugu as Adhirindi and it is slated to release on 9th November in Andhra and Telangana.
