Film releases on festivals always make fans happy. And this Diwali, both Vijay as well as Vikram fans are in for a treat. Going by what the sources in the tinsel town are saying, we gather that Vijay’s Mersal might not be the sole release for Diwali. It is said that Vikram’s Sketch, directed by the Vaalu fame Vijay Chander may also join the race. Vikram is working on Gautham Menon’s Dhruva Natchathiram and simultaneously he is concentrating on the Vijay Chander directorial Sketch.
If the news about Mersal and Sketch hitting the screen for Diwali turns out to be true, it is going to be one big box office clash that fans would simply love. Sketch, which has Vikram and Tammannah pairing up for the first time, also has Sri Priyanka, Radharavi, Vela Ramamoorthy, Soori, Sriman, Ravi Kishan and RK Suresh in the star cast. Produced by Kalaipuli S Dhanu, it is touted to be an action thriller. Thaman is composing music for this film.
Mersal, a magnum opus directed by Atlee, has Vijay in the lead with Kajal Agarwal and Samantha playing his lead pairs. Produced by N. Ramasamy, Hema Rukmani, R. Mahendran, and H. Murali under the banner Thenandal Studio Limited, the film has Nithya Menen, SJ Surya, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan, Misha Ghoshal, Kovai Sarala and Rajendran in the star cast. AR Rahman is composing music for this film.
It may be mentioned that the last time Vijay and Vikram films clashed at the box office was eleven years ago. While Vijay’s Thamizhan and Vikram’s Gemini clashed at the BO in 2002, it was Puthiya Geethai vs Kadhal Sadugudu the next year and Thirumalai vs Pithamagan the following year. The last time they clashed at the BO was in 2005 with Sivakasi and Maja.
