The title and first look for the highly anticipated Atlee-Vijay film, dubbed Vijay61 thus far, have been revealed. Called Mersal, one of the film's posters has Vijay dressed like a jallikattu contestant with bulls in the background.

During the jallikattu protests that rocked Tamil Nadu earlier this year, several celebrities from the Tamil film industry had extended their support to the traditional sport. Vijay went one step further and put up a video, directly locking horns with PETA, one of the animal rights organisations behind the Supreme Court's ban on the sport. Vijay, at the time, had put out a message calling for the organisation to be sent out of Tamil Nadu by punning on the name PETA.

Another poster of Mersal shows the actor with a stack of cards, making people speculate that he must be playing a magician in the film. Interestingly, Vijay has gone from 'Ilaya Thalapathy' to 'Thalapathy' in the posters.

Atlee has released the posters just ahead of the star's birthday on Thursday. The word 'mersal' which means astonishing/astounding was popularized by Vikram in the song Mersal aaiten from Shankar's I.

Mersal has three heroines - Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menen. SJ Surya, Sathyaraj and Vadivelu are also part of the cast. AR Rahman is the music composer for this flick which is expected to release later this year.
