Bollywood actor Vidya Balan was in talks with the makers of Lingaa and Kabali to play the female lead but she missed out on both the Rajinikanth starrers due to date issues. When director Pa Ranjith announced that he would be wielding the megaphone for the Superstar’s next, there were widespread speculations that the National Award winning actor may be playing the heroine in Rajinikanth’s 161st film.

However, reports now surface that Vidya Balan has missed the opportunity to share the screen space with Rajinikanth yet again. The lady was allotted a call sheet for the film but with a slight delay in the production, she had been given a fresh call sheet for a later date. Vidya Balan, who had already allocated those dates to another film, couldn’t accommodate the request following which she decided to move out.

Directed by Pa Ranjith, who had donned the director’s hat for the Rajinikanth starrer Kabali, the film is expected to go on the floors later this month. Santhosh Narayanan has once again been roped in to score the music for this film. This is the second time Rajinikanth, Pa Ranjith and Santhosh Narayanan are teaming up after Kabali.

With Vidya Balan not a part of the project anymore, the Rajinikanth team is scouting for a suitable heroine. Sources say that talks are on with a leading Bollywood actress to play the role and an official announcement regarding it would be made soon. It may be recalled that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played Rajini’s female lead in Endhiran while Deepika Padukone shared the screen space with him in Kochadaiyaan and Sonakshi Sinha in Linga.

The film, which has not been titled yet, is being bankrolled by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films. Incidentally, Dhanush is married to the Superstar’s eldest daughter Aishwarya.
