With the assembly polls just around the corner in Tamil Nadu, the Election Commission is going all out, to ensure a turnout of 100 per cent. Celebrities and other prominent faces are also urging people to turn up at the polling booth on Monday.  

Here are some of the videos that rocked the internet, in a bid to get people to vote.

 Suriya

In this video released by the Tamil Nadu Election Commission, actor Suriya urges people to check whether their names are in the electoral list. Talking about the importance of a 100 per cent voter turnout, he stresses on the need to register their names, in case it is not on the roll.

In yet another Dubsmash video, Suriya lip-syncs to a famous dialogue from Rajinikanth’s blockbuster film ‘Muthu’. He concludes the video by asking people to voices their choice by voting in the upcoming elections.

Ashwin

Opening his monologue with a surprising ‘I love batting’ statement, Indian cricketer Ashwin talks about how his coach compelled him to hit a 100 runs in every match he played, forcing him to become a bowler. Subtly poking fun at his jersey number ‘99’, Ashwin talks about the 100-craze that is the norm in every household across the state.

He then asks the people of the state to take this craze for 100 to the polling booths on May 16th.

Dinesh Karthik and Dipika Pallikal

Newly-weds Dinesh Karthik and Dipika Pallikal are seated on a couch with the cricketer teaching the squash player to read Tamil. As Dipika struggles to reads, Dinesh asks people to go and register themselves on the electoral list to ensure a 100 per cent voter turnout.

Simbu

Another actor to have joined the election awareness bandwagon is Simbu, with his vote song ‘Podu Mama’ styled like a kuthu paatu. In association with comedian VTV Ganesh, this peppy number asks people to vote, irrespective of how tough it is.

Prabhu Deva

In yet another gaana-style song titled ‘Ennathukku Notu’, actor-director Prabhu Deva asks people why they have to take cash in order to cast a vote. Sung by Prabhu Deva, the lyrics for the song are penned by Yuga Bharati.

This video has been released by the Election Commsiion as part of their TN100 per cent campaign.

Put Chutney

Popular YouTube channel Put Chutney released a NOTA song, in a bid to educate people about the importance of NOTA and asks voters to raise their voice and vote for the most deserving candidate.

Sung by Suren Vikash and rapper-singer Sofia Ashraf, the video has been filmed in a single-shot sequence, telling people that they too have a single-shot to make the right decision.

RJ Balaji

This celebrity radio-jockey, known for his tongue-in-cheek humour, recently released a video of a quiz that he conducted among four youngsters in the city. Seated in his studio, the youngsters try to answer Balaji’s questions on the elections, failing miserably.

Aptly titled ‘Tamil Nadu Zero Percent’, the video highlights the appalling level of knowledge among the youth in the upcoming election. As he wraps up the quiz, RJ Balaji requests the public to read up on the various leaders and make an informed choice; and not just vote for that blue mark on their finger.
