The Hyderabad police have released a video to warn people against ATM fraud. After the arrest of a five-member gang on May 10, the Habeebnagar police released footage that staged the modus operandi they used in order to dupe people.

Watch:

The police explained that they would operate in banks which had two ATMs in the same center and their target would usually consist of the elderly.

Thereafter, two members of the gang would enter one of the ATM booths and insert a thin silver plate next to the ‘#’ button, causing the machine to get stuck when people tried to use it.

The gang members would then ask the person to use the second machine. Once the person would enter the PIN, they would remove the silver plate from the first machine and use the PIN to withdraw the cash.
