Tamil Nadu assembly elections are few months away and tempers are rising in the state. After TN CM Jayalalithaa, it seems that DMDK Chief ‘Captain’ Vijaykanth is the hottest property in the state, with several political parties and alliances, from the DMK to the PWA, courting him to join hands with them. Some have even offered him the Chief Ministerial candidate’s post.

This however seems to have got into the head of the ‘captain’, known to have a mercurial attitude and a motor-mouth.

On Sunday, when reporters asked him if he thinks the AIADMK will win the 2016 elections, he said, “No, AIADMK will not win, enough?” and then accosted the reporter asking him why he does not ask the same question to Jayalalithaa, accusing the reporter of being fearful. And then has asks, “Are you a journalist?” following it up with a strong, resounding “thoo”.

One of the reporters responded saying that if Jayalalithaa calls for a press meet then they will ask, to which he said that everyone is scared of her.

This is not the first time Vijaykanth has been seen misbehaving in public.

He was recently filmed hitting a district secretary of his own party and also criticised for acting out in anger against a reporter in Delhi.

Several individual journalists and associations have condemned Vijayakanth. "Consortium of Journalists in India (CJI) condemns DMDK chief actor-turned politician for abusing journalists who went to gather blood donation camp organised by the DMDK cadres," stated a press release from the Consortium of Journalists in India, based in Chennai.
