Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal took the occasion of his 57th birthday on Sunday, to treat his fans by sharing the details of his upcoming film.

Taking to Facebook, Mohanlal said that his latest film Velipadinte Pustakam is being directed by prominent filmmaker Lal Jose. Mohanlal will be playing the role of a college Vice-Principal in the film.

How this newly-appointed VP brings out a change in the college, its staff and students forms the crux of the Velipadinte Pustakam. The film went on to the floors on May 17, at the St Xavier’s College in Thumba. Film buffs are waiting in anticipation for this film’s release already as it has Mohanlal playing the lead role in Lal Jose’s directorial for the first time.

Velipadinte Pustakam has Anna Reshma Rajan of the Angamaly Dairies fame and Priyanka Nair as the female leads with Anoop Menon and Tamil actor Sarath Kumar in important roles.

Lal Jose is wielding the megaphone for this flick which has been scripted by Beeny P Nayarambalam. Shaan Rahman is composing the tunes for this flick and Antony Perumbavoor is producing the film under his home banner Aashirvad Cinemas.

Vishnu Sarma is cranking the camera and Ranjan Abraham will be editing this entertainer that is loaded with comedy.

Lal Jose made his debut as director with the 1998 release Oru Maravathoor Kanavu, which had Mammootty in the lead role. In his career spanning over 19 years, Lal Jose has directed almost all leading stars in the Malayalam film industry including Mammootty, Prithviraj, Dileep, Fahadh Faasil and Dulquer Salmaan. In fact, he was supposed to cast Mohanlal in a film titled Cousins but the film was put in the cold storage for reason best known to the filmmakers. Well, looks like Lal Jose and Mohanlal will be making up for the loss with Velipadinte Pustakam.

Lal Jose too, shared the title of the film on Facebook and wrote: "Named the film."
