The state BJP and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi continue to lock horns, after the Cuddalore district police arrested VCK's public relation officer B Puthiyavan, for obscene posts about the Tamil Nadu BJP President Tamilisai Soundarajan on social media. The arrest came after the BJP 's Sc/ST wing lodged a complaint with the police on Thursday, reports ToI.
According to reports, VCK cadres have been protesting against Tamilisai after she accused its leader Thol Thirumavalavan of grabbing land and properties. Puthiyavan allegedly took to social media to share distateful posts about the BJP chief. The SC/ST cell complained that Puthiyavan posted a cartoon with derogatory comments on Tamilisai's appearance.
Puthiyavan has been charged with criminal assault on a woman with an intention to outrage her modesty and criminal intimidation. He was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. Following this VCK cadre have been staging protests, demanding his release.
Tamilisai has also been on the receiving end of sexist and threatening remarks and phone calls over the Mersal controversy. She had questioned the 'incorrect references' to GST and digital India in the movie, paving way for the wrath of actor Vijay's fans.
She had told the media that she was constantly getting abusive phone calls, the contents of which were too obscene to share with her own family.
